  • outlaws captured

I couldn’t resist using the tired-out reference about in-laws being outlaws. And captured on camera (not in jail). For shame…

Anyway, back in September, Amanda’s parents came to visit. We took them out to Makoshika (the largest state park in Montana), and got some great pictures. We finally bought a new card reader so that I could upload them. I also found some great pictures of Scooter that hadn’t been posted, so there’s some new stuff in the ‘Scooter’ gallery as well.

There are also a couple of the new house in Glendive. There will surely be more in the not too distant future, but that’s all we’ve got for now.

Lastly, if anyone ever needs to edit EXIF information on a photo (it’s the extra information your camera stores about when the picture was taken, what camera was used, exposure, etc.) and you’re using Linux, try out mapivi. It’s not the fanciest program in the world, but it works, and has an option to make ‘relative’ adjustments to the date a picture was taken. This can be quite useful if you have 40 pictures that were taken after your camera was without power and you forgot to reset the date.

  • together

This last weekend we had a Bishop family reunion. Most of my aunts and uncles were there, with a few grandkids, and even a few great-grandkids. In all, there were about thirty of us there. My cousin Brett got a hold of my camera, so there are a lot of pictures.

Reminds me of another time when he took almost two hundred pictures with it during Thanksgivining. It was shortly after I got my new camera, and I wanted to see how many pictures could be taken on one set of batteries (rechargables, the alkalines never did more than twenty or thirty).

Anyway, it was a lot of fun, except I missed out on the bowling, because it got too late (I know, I’m getting old). One thing I am quite excited about is that my aunt Debbie got a lot more old pictures to scan, so I’ll have more to add to the Bishop Family History section sometime in the near future.

I also finished a video project that I had been working on, with completely free and open source tools, but more on that later.

  • congrats

Congratulations are in order for several folks. A couple weeks ago, two good friends of ours received some amazing news. They were going to be parents…in a few hours. They had been in the adoption process for some time, and were nearing the end, when a young girl that they knew told them she wanted them to adopt her newborn baby. Shortly thereafter, they took home three-day-old Miriam. So, congrats to you. We’re sooo happy for you guys. She’s the cutest little girl too.
Also, my grandma Alma just turned eighty-eight today. Wahooo! Happy birthday Grandma!

  • happy v-day

It’s officially Valentine’s day here, and along with that, it is also 3 years since Amanda and I were engaged to be married. I just want to take this moment to say, “I love you. You’re my favorite.”

In other news, I’ve posted the hardly-edited Bishop family Christmas photo parade. Enjoy (the parade, and v-day).

I’ve just added the program phpgedview on my website. This allows me to publish (and edit) all the genealogy information I have on my father’s side from any computer with web access. I’ll be updating it with info from my mother’s side soon. If you would like to help me out in this endeavor, please click the link above, then click ‘login’ at the top, and request an account.
