Some days, I look back and go, “did I get anything done today?” So here’s me recording for the world what I did today. You can stop reading now, because it’s going to be really boring. I promise. Really.

Hi Shane, I’m currently trying to setup a Norco DS-1220 on a Dell Poweredge 840 under Ubuntu Server 7.10. Any pointers?
Don’t. That’s the best advice I can give you, unless the drivers have been improved in Ubuntu since we last checked. The only way we were eventually able to get the Norco DS-1220 running with all bays functioning was to use Gentoo. If you haven’t used Gentoo before, and you want to learn more about Linux, it’s worth doing just for that. I’ll see if I can get a few more details from the coworker who actually got it going, but that’s all I know for now.
OK, thanks. I’m currently trying it with Fedora Core 8. It’s only recognizing the 4 main port bays (5, 10, 11, 12), so I’m assuming it’s a port replicator support issue for the others. If you can get me in contact with your coworker that got it going with Gentoo, I’d appreciate it. I’ll also let you know if and how I get it working with Fedora.
